Tech Talk: Azure Resource Groups

Updated: Jul 12, 2021

If this post has helped or you learned something new, leave a like :)

Today's topic is Resource Groups. Basically, they are a region specific container that you can create in Azure. It is used to hold... resources. It is as simple as that. Now, these resources contained in the Resource Group should all be related to the same project. As a Resource Group can be used to give you an overview about pricing, logs, metrics, events, etc.

Setup is very easy. Simply click "+ Create a resource". Search for Resource Group, fill in the form and give it a name. The click "Review + create"

Click "Create" and away you go. Job done!

If this is your first Resource Group, it's worth it to take the time to click through the various tabs on the side panel. Just to see what they do but, it's very self explanatory.

Personally, I've never really needed to go into any of these settings. It's great to know that they are there and what they do. Often times, if something does goes wrong with a resource, I go straight to that resource.

And there you have it Resource Groups.
